Ramirent Oyj Press release 18 May 2016 at 9:00

Hanken & SSE Executive Education are launching the Business Lead 2016 programme, which aims to integrate educated asylum seekers into the Finnish society and working life. Ramirent is one of the 40 partners of the programme and will offer an internship to one asylum seeker in the beginning of autumn 2016.

The integration programme developed by Hanken & SSE Executive Education comprises four modules which span over a seven-day period, a mobile service to support learning, mentoring offered by the Helsinki Chamber of Commerce and a two-month internship in one of the partner companies. Forty asylum seekers were chosen from among 70 applicants to participate in the programme. Criteria used in the selection were higher education or at least three years of studies, at least two years of relevant work experience, and sufficient English language skills.

Ramirent was eager to participate in supporting the integration of asylum seekers into the Finnish society.

“It is great to take part in offering this opportunity to asylum seekers. Many educated and skilled people have come to Finland in recent months, but we have not been able to make use of that potential. This programme gives asylum seekers a chance to demonstrate their skills and at the same time supports them in adjusting to the Finnish culture. We at Ramirent think that diversity is a valuable asset, and we welcome new talent,” says Magnus Rosén, President and CEO of Ramirent.

The programme’s partners include Finnish and international businesses, organisations and educational institutes. The partners provide the funding for the programme and give the participants an opportunity to acquaint themselves with Finnish working life and ways of working through practical training.

Skilled newcomers have much to offer

Internships in the partner companies are offered based on the skills of the intern as well as the needs of the company. Most of the asylum seekers participating in the programme have an engineering or commercial degree. The youngest participant is 23 and the oldest 53 years of age. During the programme, the participants will learn about Finnish business life and European organisation culture, entrepreneurship, financial administration and sales and marketing, among other things.

“The programme is an opportunity for us as well – while the participants take their first steps in Finnish working life, we gain a fresh point of view and first-hand knowledge about how things are done elsewhere. I am sure we can learn much from each other”, says Peggy Hansson, Senior Vice President, HR, Health and Safety.

The developer of the Business Lead 2016 programme, Hanken & SSE Executive Education, is a company co-owned by Hanken School of Economics and Stockholm School of Economics, offering executive education. The programme is realized in cooperation with Hanken School of Economics and the mobile service company Funzi.
