The Helsinki City Events Foundation piloted Ramirent’s greener electricity supply at the Tall Ships Races Helsinki 2024. Ramirent, Enico, and Höyrytys collaborated to provide a fossil-free, silent, and emission-free energy source for the event. The new electricity storage solution, launched at the event, aims to reduce the carbon footprint and noise pollution, promoting sustainable development.
Ramirent, Enico with its sister company Höyrytys and the Helsinki City Events Foundation were proud to present the fruit of an innovative collaboration at Tall Ships Races Helsinki 2024. Ramirent is a leading service company providing equipment rental, scaffolding and weather protection for construction, industry and events. Enico is a Finnish company that provides electrical energy storage solutions to provide events and construction sites with a fossil-free, silent and emission-free energy source that accelerates the green transition by enabling the move away from fossil fuels. Höyrytys offers comprehensive energy generation solutions for different energy sources and related expert services for industrial needs and is responsible for the rental of electrical energy storage facilities to Ramirent.
Tall Ships Races is a race for large sailing ships and Europe’s largest, free family event. The aim of the event is to promote education and cooperation among young people, regardless of nationality, cultural background, religion or social background, through a common sailing event. The event will bring dozens of spectacular sailing boats and their crews to the city, around which the public event will be built. Tall Ships Races Helsinki is organised by the Helsinki Events Foundation, which is responsible for event production in the City of Helsinki.
Responsible energy solution
This collaboration is part of Ramirent’s ‘Renting is a responsible choice – Rami Green’ concept. Ramirent sells, Enico manufactures and Höyrytys supplies the electrical energy storage solutions that are key to accelerating the green transition.
How does it work?
At the event, electricity will be distributed quietly and in an environmentally friendly way through mobile electricity storage systems (MobileESS). The continuous, round-the-clock use of aggregators will be significantly reduced. The charging cycle will start automatically, every six hours or so, depending on electricity consumption.
Advantages:
Environmentally friendly: portable electricity storage reduces the carbon footprint and contributes to sustainable development.
Reduction of noise pollution: Traditional aggregates cause noise pollution, but the new concept offers a quieter alternative.
Future trend: event organisers can be pioneers in the use of green energy.
Launch and environmental impact
The new electricity storage solution for events and construction sites was launched at the Helsinki Tall Ships Races, which will took place from 4 to 7 July 2024. The environmental impact of the event will be assessed according to the criteria of the Ekokompassi environmental certificate. The event has its own environmental programme, which includes targets for minimising energy consumption, among other things.
Future energy at events
This collaboration is an important step towards a more sustainable future in event energy management. Portable electricity storage provides a reliable, safe and environmentally friendly source of energy that reduces the carbon footprint and noise pollution of events.
